Thought you would like to hear the judges comments about my entry to FoQ.
Judge 1;
Lovely soft colours and fabrics. I feel the dark machine embroidery of the birds contrasts too heavily with the soft big stitch work.
Judge 2;
Your machine drawn birds are charming – just a bit lost against your chosen background.
You can only laugh.

have been well behind uploading a photo a day. I apologise. I find I have not kept up with every day either. Have decided not to stress, but promise to try harder.
Here is the collage summary for July – to see each post got to the blog here.
I’ve been playing with the template. I like this clean look.
It’s been quite a month – the studio finished, creating the French book, unusual activity in Rothbury and a pair of beautiful new slippers.

Well I said I was tired – I switched off the lights at 9.30pm and woke finally at 10am this morning.
Today I went across in the afternoon and had a leisurely stroll. The plan was to finish shopping and not get too tired. Well it worked – until I had to wait (standing up) for 1.5hrs to collect my quilt. In future I’m paying the £20 return fee. It was an utterly ridiculous system. I ache all over.
Plan is to start home at 4.30am….. I’ve had a GREAT time.
Meeting old and new friends, putting many names and faces together was wonderful.
Oh yes, and I have NONE of the cash I came with left at all.

Another good day in Birmingham. Spent some time with my mum and had coffee with Liz and Janice in the afternoon.
Spent the last half and hour having a walk around – its the best time – quiet.
Have managed to miss the SAQA stand twice. Will find it tomorrow.

Kaffe Fassett still draws me with his colours, I’ve seen this quilt before but still love it.
Interesting quilts from Murmansk
And from Rust-Tex.
Too tired to blog any more – time for a long hot bath and room service.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.

Have had a great day. I’m on a Mixed Media Collage workshop for two days.
Spent today painting papers and mark making. Forgot to take any photos!
The very best part of FoQ is being able to meet up with friends – mainly those I know from the internet. Here are some members of the AD group, wish I could have spent longer with them.

Arrived at the NEC 5 hours and 15 mins after starting out. Overall a good journey.
Here the view from my window.
The hotel is fine – just a few niggles – dust in the corners behind the TV, mark on the sofa and a bit shabby, plus a £10 / day parking charged imposed after booking (I’m protesting about that in the morning).

Tomorrow I’m heading down to Festival Of Quilts. Hopefully a straight run south with a right hand turn at the end about 5 hours later. I’m back on Monday, I’m going to miss DS as I’ve got so used to him being around and chatting to me.
Up here the heather is stunning as is the Rosebay Willowherb. Northumberland is turning purple-pink (with a splash of lime green – how perfect is that?)
Some pictures from Cragside on Saturday.

Its August 14th.
Cold and wet enough to wear wellies, barbour jacket and a scarf (practical as well as pretty).
The hills were hidden in mist and rain.
The field was too muddy to get the car into.
It was cold enough that I could see my breath in front of my face (at 11am).
I think summer has died up here.
